Sharon Lynn Fisher Interviewed

Co-blogger and SFRBrigader Sharon Lynn Fisher will be interviewed May 20 by Elisabeth Naughton: http://www.elisabethnaughton.com/blog/.

Elisabeth is spotlighting 20 Golden Heart finalists (two per week) leading up to RWA nationals in July. Sharon's focus is going to be about not being afraid to dream — about how Stephenie Meyer’s success story inspired her, and how, by following her advice, she found GH success and eventually signed with Meyer's agency.

The post will also include Sharon's bio, how she found an agent, her favorite authors, as well as more information about her writing history and plans.

Mark your calendar and be sure to drop by and post a comment on May 20th to support a fellow Brigader.

Picture of the Day

Picked up from Twitter is this stunning view of Jupiter with Io in transit.  Ah, the wonders of space.

The Jovian system truly fascinates me.  Such an amazing, violent, awe-inspiring place.

The Last Flight of Atlantis

It's an historic--but sad--day for our space program.

Shuttle Atlantis will make its final launch this afternoon, if the weather cooperates, at the start of its last mission.  The Shuttle Program itself will end this fall.

We, as a nation, lost the ability to get a manned craft to the Moon decades ago.  Now we will be losing our shuttle fleet with no replacement expected for years. The end of an era is fast approaching and its a sobering thought for those who write SF and SFR, or those who look to the future with hopes and dreams of exploring new horizons in space.

Do the Write Thing for Nashville

I'm a member of RWA (Romance Writers of Amerca) and after our planned annual conference was washed out by the devastating floods in Nashville (our hotel was supposed to be the Gaylord Opryland) many writers were moved to do something to help the people of the flood region in Tennessee.

This is the link to a very successful online auction being put on by writers and industry professionals.  If you're a writer or you love to read, you should definitely check it out.  There are some amazing offerings!

Do the Write Thing for Nashville

(BTW, our conference has not been cancelled, but rescheduled to the Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando, Florida. All of us here at Spacefreighters Lounge plan to be there along with other members of the SFR Brigade.)
